Arts In AtlantaAtlanta has a wide range of cultural and arts offerings, including excellent theaters, symphonies, chamber groups, operas, ballet and contemporary dance groups, botanical gardens, historical and science museums, etc. Among the leading visual arts museums and centers are: The Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University specializes in ancient art, with particularly strong holdings
in Egyptian art. Temporary exhibitions cover the range of art history.
The High Museum of Art features work from the Renaissance to the present, including folk and decorative arts. There
is a second branch of this museum specializing in photography and folk art. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA), specializes in art from the state of Georgia. The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (The Contemporary) shows local, national, and international contemporary artists. Hammonds House Galleries & Resource Center specializes in contemporary African-American art. Eyedrum is an alternative exhibition space featuring contemporary art, music, and new media.
